Invite us to come to your organization! We offer workshops on a range of SWANA arts disciplines, as theater and writing workshops, educational presentations for classrooms and organizations, and music or literary performances.

Workshop Offerings

We offer workshops to schools (can tailor to any age levels), community organizations, and institutions of all kinds on a range of SWANA arts disciplines, as well as theater and writing. ​Our workshops are led by experienced SWANA artists, writers, and theater makers in the community who are seasoned in teaching their craft. Standard workshops are an hour minimum (with some exceptions - see below), but length can be increased or cut depending on your organization's needs.

Our Offerings: 

  • Cooking workshops (1.5 hours minimum)

  • Palestinian Embroidery (2 hours minimum)

  • Dabke (line-dance) workshop

  • Arabic drumming workshop

  • Theater movement workshops 

  • Ensemble-building workshops 

  • *Spoken word poetry 

  • *Creative nonfiction workshops 

  • *Playwriting workshops

Educational Presentations

​We present to classrooms (school and university level), organizations, and institutions of all kinds on issues of SWANA American history and culture. As long-time educators and organizers, our team has spoken on numerous issues pertaining to SWANA and Arab American experiences, including SWANA American representation in the arts, history of SWANA American migration, survey of SWANA and Arab American artists and leaders, and more.

Our Presenters

Music and Literary Performances

Invite our Yalla Drum Ensemble or our associated poets to perform at your event! Our Yalla Drum Ensemble performs traditional SWANA music and rhythms, including Classical Arabic songs, and can be accompanied with a singer by request. Our ensemble has performed at outdoor festivals, arts events, conferences, concerts, universities, and other venues across Minnesota. 

Our associated poets are experienced SWANA writers who have performed their work at numerous events and arts spaces. Our poets will perform work on issues pertaining to SWANA experiences, and requests can be tailored as needed.
